Meet Margot

Bonjour!

When I was nine years old my dad bought me my first camera and I’ve been taking photos ever since. I’ve always felt it was magical, the way photography fixed a moment in time and kept it forever. My earliest inspiration came from my great-grandfather whose photos of Paris in the 40’s and 50’s were the most beautiful images of my childhood - I can remember them perfectly even now…

create, travel, make magic

Living in Paris after my formal education had ended offered me lots of photographic opportunities, and I took my camera everywhere. Among university friends I quickly became the “official (aka: annoying) photographer”. I was obsessed with taking portraits of everybody and everything. Even back then I found beauty in people’s stories and importance in the small things that made them different. Photography was, and still is, my way of telling stories.

But it’s a big world out there, and over the last decade I’ve traveled and photographed amazing people and places, spanning many countries and continents, and each has left their mark on my heart. I’ve captured beautiful weddings up and down the California coast, graceful dancers in Thailand, portraits of mountain tribesmen in Myanmar, sunset engagements in Malibu, skyscrapers in Dubai, rooftop parties in London, breathtaking landscapes in Iceland; and one day during my travels I even snapped a photo of an American man on the day we met… little did I know he would go on to be the love of my life - it was in Uluwatu, Indonesia.

Highly recommend La Petite Photo!!! She was efficient, able to keep us on schedule, and captured the most spectacular moments.. She kept things light, fun, and romantic and made everyone so comfortable in front of the camera.

PLACES YOU WILL FIND ME :

- Traveling the world with my husband and 5 year old baby boy. Next stop: Sri Lanka!
- Creating weird objects in Ceramics class. It’s not supposed to look weird, I’m just working on my technique.
- Exploring my city on my little electric bike. It’s black and there is a huge French flag flying on top of it. You can’t miss me in Long Beach.
- Practicing the Bharadvaja's Twist yoga pose… Or maybe, just the Shavasana. It’s the lying-down-and-closing-your-eyes pose. Some people call it sleeping but that sounds less cool.
- Mastering my Jack Fruit Curry recipe. My French twist: I eat it with a baguette on the side.
- Debating my husband over that movie to watch on our retro projector. He's into music and surfing documentaries, I am into French RomCom and Thrillers. So obviously, we end up watching old episodes of "Parks and Rec." They call that “a compromise”.

If I was a:

Bowl of soup: Tonkatsu Ramen
Processional song: Clair de Lune, Debussy
Jewellry: A Raw Peacock Ore Ring
Wedding gown: A boho jumpsuit with a cape
Tv show: The Mighty Boosh, Julian Barratt & Noel Fielding (UK)
Movie: Interstellar, Christopher Nolan
Flower: Lotus flower (tattooed on my arm) or bright pink peonies.
Animal: A very furry cat
Plant: Monstera Deliciosa
Harry Potter character: Luna Lovegood?

Weddings are dope

As a Frenchie, there is nothing more meaningful to me than love and romance, and my heart never pounds more than when capturing your very first kiss as a married couple.

As corny as it sounds, I am in love with LOVE. It’s an honor to capture the many beautiful moments that make up such an important day. I take each photo knowing that years later, these images will transport you right back to the most memorable celebration of your lives together.

Also, lifestyle portraits are cool

Not completely posed but not fully candid either, my life style photography sessions work best for my clients who want to get beautiful and authentic portraits at home or somewhere more adventurous. I like to think of my lifestyle sessions a slice of real life with an extra golden touch: it’s you, at your best.

As your photographer, my real goal is not only to make you feel beautiful but to capture moments that you will cherish and frame. Moments that may hang on your kid’s wall one day too…!
